Problem Statement

I created an App that would benefit the user especially during their busy schedule. Problem Statement: Alfie is a single man who needs food delivered to him and his colleagues because he has a very busy work schedule and the app is not helping him deliver food correctly. This problem statement helped me create a mobile app that was easy to use and had a good navigation.

The goal:

-Find an app that helps me speak to the people and the shop owner to get food delivered correctly.

-Have my food delivered to me and my colleagues at work.

My role in this is UX lead designer.

Case Study
Participants are all single who need food delivered. 2 Accountant’s: 1 disabled and 2 teacher’s: Visually impaired. Full-time part-time student’s, workers, or disabled. 2 male accountants and 2 female teachers. 3 children that are not related in their youth, 12 years old.  1 Visually impaired person. I need 1 assistive technology user; keyboard only navigation, screen-reader, and magnification devices.  Can’t see far or close, are disabled (on wheelchair and have an injury), from different ethnic groups (Europe, Asia, or Africa), single, married. I chose these groups of people because I wanted to avoid bias, I wanted to make sure that everyone was included

Created a food Menu App for a fast-food Restaurant

  • Stakeholders: Dorean’s fast-food customers, Chloe Scot-lead UX designer, VP of design-Mark Wein.

  • Date: 5/10/2023

  • Project background: I wanted to conduct this research because I wanted to know how single people are able to order from a fast-food Menu while they are at work. Also I wanted to help Alfie figure out how to order food for all of his colleagues.

  • On May 24th and 30th, I will conduct a survey or have an interview at 1:30. The location will be in the United States; Atlanta, Georgia to be precise. I am conducting primary research; 20 minutes per participant. I will analyze the data by comparing it to Alfie and how delivery works for him. The survey will involve a class at a school. I will conduct the survey. Print out answer cards and give them out. Based on the numbers that I get from the surveys, I will know about fast-food deliveries. I will also conduct interviews to at least 9 diverse users that I will need for the app. They will answer my research questions and test their feelings towards fast-food apps. The limits of a survey is that it can lead to bias and one group thinking one thing. However, an interview gives specific answers from different people. This will help diversify the answers. The limits to interviews is that you can’t really tell how honest people are going to be.

Research goals:

  • Find an app that helps me speak to the people at the shop owner to get food delivered correctly.

  • Have my food delivered to me and my colleagues at work.

  • Create a fast-food app that easy for single people

  • Help Alfie find a way to get food delivered for him and his colleagues because of his busy schedule

  • The results of the research will make me change the way I design my app to have a better delivery system. Alfie would like the delivery system to work at Dorean’s Fast-food. I will have to tweak some design factors and find an easier way for delivery to be efficient.

  • Could you explain your experience with different fast food apps?

  • What makes you want or have the feeling to use a fast-food app?

  • How many times do you order fast-food for work purposes

  • How long does it take a whole office to get food ordered?

  • Could you explain what day of the week you order food? What does a good app look like?

  • What are the questions your research is trying to answer?

  • MY KPIs:

  •  Time on task: How long does it take for the clients to get their order delivered?

  • User error rates: How often does the user make mistakes ordering the wrong meal or ordering to the wrong address or office?

  • Conversion rate: How many fast-food items people are ordering?

  • System Usability: A questionnaire to help understand the delivery satisfaction for customers.
